Morley Googoo

Morley Googoo is a Mi’kmaw cultural host, musician, and community leader from We’koqma’q First Nation in Unama’ki. Through his work with the 7GI (Seven Generations Indigenous) Foundation and Music on the Hill, Morley creates spaces where people come together to learn, share, and build relationships through culture and music. From mentoring and managing artists to providing rehearsal space and recording time, to special events and concerts, Morley provides essential support to the music community in Unama’ki.

7GI Society is an Indigenous-led Reconcili-Action initiative focused on creating opportunities for collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. Through events, workshops, retreats, and cultural programming, Morley brings together Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and facilitators to support learning, dialogue, and shared understanding.

At the heart of this work is Music on the Hill, a creative and gathering space in Sydney Mines. Here, artists, community members, and visitors take part in workshops, songwriting sessions, rehearsals, recordings, and live performances. The space also hosts house concerts and community events that reflect Mi’kmaw traditions of storytelling, music, and coming together in a good way. Music on the Hill provides mentorship and artist development opportunities, nurturing talent through guidance, encouragement, and shared knowledge.

Morley’s approach is grounded in creating safe, welcoming environments where people feel comfortable asking questions, learning about Mi’kmaw culture, and participating in meaningful experiences. His work reflects the principles of sharing knowledge, building connections, and supporting reconciliation through lived experience.

As a performer, Morley is also a bass guitar player with the Hi-Boys, bringing music into his work both on and off the stage.
