Eileen E. Brooks

Eileen E. Brooks is a Mi’kmaw artisan, dancer, and knowledge sharer from Sipekne’katik First Nation in Mi’kma’ki. Through her work at Noontime Son and Daughters Craft Shop, she creates and shares handmade cultural items including jingle dresses, dreamcatchers, and medicine wheels.

Eileen’s work is deeply connected to Mi’kmaw teachings and lived experience. She teaches others about the meaning of the jingle dress and women’s traditional dance, sharing how these practices are grounded in healing, respect, and connection. Her teachings also reflect the values of the medicine wheel, emphasizing balance, care, and the importance of supporting one another across all communities.

In addition to her work as a maker, Eileen has long been active in cultural practices including talking circles, ceremony, and land-based knowledge. She has experience in dancing, singing, and drumming, and has carried the Eagle Staff for many years, reflecting her commitment to culture and community.

Eileen’s knowledge extends across language, land, and tradition. She continues to learn and share Mi’kmaw language and teachings, drawing on experiences from cultural programs, community work, and lifelong learning.

Her work is available through Facebook, powwows, and cultural events, where she connects with community members and visitors seeking authentic Mi’kmaw craftsmanship and cultural understanding.
