Clinton Ray Howard is a Mi’kmaw maker and horticulture specialist from Glooscap First Nation. He blends ancestral knowledge with formal training to promote natural healing and wellness with his Mi’kmaw herbal products. As the founder of Glooscap’s Finest Herbal Body Care, Clinton creates herbal remedies and self-care products that reflect both cultural teachings and modern botanical science. His work is rooted in land-based practices and a commitment to sharing Mi’kmaw knowledge of traditional medicine.
Trained in Horticultural and Landscaping Technology at Nova Scotia Community College, Clinton integrates his academic studies with the plant-based wisdom taught to him as a child. He crafts healing packs and products using traditional medicines like bear grease, sweetgrass, and sage, as well as other natural ingredients such as castile soap and essential oils. These creations are not only functional but also serve to preserve and share Mi’kmaw approaches to health and wellness.
Clinton’s offerings promote sustainable, grassroots medicine and provide a pathway for others to reconnect with their bodies and the land. Through his business and community outreach, he continues to inspire and educate others about the healing potential of Mi’kmaw medicines.
“In my experience, these are the medicines I’ve been taught to use as a child, that I’ve used to promote healing on my children, sharing with consumers the cultural aspect and knowledge of incorporating these medicines.”
