Membertou Heritage Park

Immerse yourself in Mi’kmaw culture through guided tours, hands-on workshops, ceremonial experiences, and a curated gift shop at Membertou Heritage Park.

The Membertou Heritage Park is a band-owned cultural destination spanning 5 acres in Membertou, Nova Scotia, dedicated to preserving and sharing Mi’kmaw heritage through interactive learning and storytelling. Located on traditional Mi’kmaw land, the park offers guided tours that feature historic exhibits, ceremonial drumming and chanting, and engaging explanations by knowledge keepers and Elders.

Visitors can participate in immersive cultural workshops—beading, dreamcatcher or drum making, Medicine Wheel teachings, and drum chanting—each accompanied by Mi’kmaw storytelling, smudging ceremonies, and shared traditional experiences such as tea and Luskin bread. The park also supports experiential learning through the Mi’kmaw Medicine Walk, where participants discover traditional plant medicine along a nature trail with guided interpretation.

On-site amenities include the Petroglyphs Gift Shop, showcasing a curated selection of authentic Mi’kmaw art, crafts, and cultural goods from across Atlantic Canada. The Elders Room is available for private or group events, and the site is fully accessible by appointment for rentals or workshops.

“At Membertou Heritage Park, every story we tell, song we sing, and craft we teach carries the heartbeat of our people—passing knowledge forward, honoring tradition, and holding space for community.” – Jeff Ward, General Manager, Membertou Heritage Park
