Jacklyn Paul is a proud Mi’kmaw social worker, consultant, and the founder of Militaw Consulting—an Indigenous-owned business based in Sipekne’katik First Nation, Nova Scotia. Through Militaw, she works with organizations to build culturally grounded systems that reflect Indigenous realities and foster genuine equity and reconciliation. Jacklyn draws on both lived experience and formal training in social work, mental health, trauma-informed care, and systemic advocacy. She is a descendant of residential school survivors and brings a deeply personal understanding of intergenerational trauma to all her work.
With a background in clinical social work, Jacklyn has spent years supporting individuals, families, and communities through healing-centered practices. Her consulting now focuses on creating structural change: developing decolonizing policies, facilitating trauma-informed education, and helping organizations become spaces where Indigenous people feel seen, heard, and safe. Her work is guided by Two-Eyed Seeing, blending Indigenous knowledge with Western approaches to foster culturally rooted, effective strategies for systemic transformation.
Jacklyn believes that decolonization is not just a theory or policy—it’s a commitment to relational accountability. Militaw Consulting offers a place where people can ask difficult questions, learn to recognize colonial patterns, and take tangible steps toward change.
“Militaw Consulting is a place where people can ask the hard questions. It’s about creating real change by decolonizing systems, supporting healing, and showing up for Indigenous people.” – Jacklyn
