You can find me at the Membertou Heritage Park.
Andrea Dennis is a Mi’kmaw artisan, educator, and cultural host whose vibrant presence can be found at the Membertou Heritage Park. Known for her intricate beadwork and passion for sharing Mi’kmaw history, Andrea leads cultural tours and facilitates hands-on learning that brings traditional teachings to life. Her work is rooted in both ancestral practice and contemporary expression.
Andrea creates custom beaded headdresses, crowns, medallions, and dreamcatchers, often incorporating cultural teachings into each design. She also leads beading workshops that allow participants to learn about the significance of patterns, colors, and stories embedded in Mi’kmaw craft. In addition to her creative talents, Andrea drums and sings, shares stories, and participates in seasonal harvesting, such as blueberry picking. Her knowledge of Mi’kmaw astronomy and legends further enriches the experiences she offers.
Her commitment to preserving and celebrating Mi’kmaw culture is evident in everything she does—from storytelling and ceremony to beadwork and public engagement. As a Mi’kmaw language speaker and advocate for traditional games like waltes, Andrea helps pass on traditions in accessible and meaningful ways.
