Sipekne'katik (Indian Brook)

Sipekne’katik First Nation is a Mi’kmaw community located in Hants County, Nova Scotia, close to the town of Shubenacadie. Sipekne’katik was officially established as a reserve in 1820 under the name Indian Brook. In 2013, it was renamed to its traditional Mi’kmaq name, Sipekne’katik, meaning “where the wild potatoes grow.” The community focuses on education, health, and economic development.

We welcome you to learn from and engage with the Makers and Hosts of Sipekne’katik, grounded in culture and tradition.
