Bear River (L'sɨtkuk)

Bear River First Nation is located in the Annapolis Valley, between the towns of Annapolis Royal and Digby, Nova Scotia. Historically, L’sɨtkuk was an important meeting place for the Wabanaki Confederacy, a political and cultural alliance among the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Wolastoqiyik and Mi’kmaw Nations. The traditional economy of L’sitkuk was based on hunting, fishing and gathering and the community has continued to use this expertise and are known for their community’s crafts people, basket makers, and guides.
