Ashley Julian is a Knowledge Keeper and Community Leader. Ashley grew up learning traditional skills from her Grandmother Becky and other Elders in the community. As a PH.D Candidate, Ashley believes strongly in the power of education – both Western and Mi’kmaq. Ashley attends ceremony and mawio’mis and is known for her Ko’jua dancing. In addition, Ashley beads, makes wooden flowers, designs and makes regalia, and does woodwork. Ashley and her grandmother have a large collection of traditional Mi’kmaw baskets and plan to open up a craft store and offer cultural tours in the near future.
Ashley is the owner of Gratitude and Tea Holistic Wellness as a Gratitude consultant, operating her online presence through blogging, website, travel catalogue, apparel, and owner of Nestuin Network podcast. Her daily practices include cultural and Mi’kmaq language learning, crafting wooden roses, gratitude, yoga and meditation. Part of her practices include consistently traveling to fill the Mi’kmaw basket of traditional knowledge and contributing to holistic wellness goals.
Ashley Rebecca provides support in achieving treaty education, cultural inclusive academic institutions and career potential, foster deeper understanding and appreciation of First Nations history, cultural sensitivity sessions, culture and traditions. She delivers culturally based activities, hockey coaching, counselling, cultural sensitivity, awareness sessions, yoga and meditation sessions, and Mi’kmaq cultural teachings and crafts. Her goal is to continue enhancing relationships, networking skills, advocating an appreciation of cultural diversity while strengthening her business and promoting holistic wellness through an online presence.
